Tough one! I’m wondering: how can they still justify giving you a full BTEC National when they have cut your hours by two thirds? I don’t understand that. Also, although some Uni’s might “look down” on BTECs, you still have another A level which proves you have the academic ability as well as the practical application – in that sense you actually have a good mix. The chances of you getting into another sixth form now is virtually non-existant (you’d probably have to look at a college). What I suggest you do is telephone a few of the good universities you are possibly considering going to and ask them outright if they consider BTECs to be equal to A levels. Don’t forget they will also look at extra-curricular experience and activities so if you do any acting or performing outside of school this will all go in your favour. Also, many students who JUST do BTECs in performing arts continue onto uni so there is no proof that Uni’s look down on them. If you have a Connexions adviser at your school go and see them, they can help you find the good uni’s and you can call them from there too. Good luck!
