The lectures, the therapy I practice and my books help my clients and readers to find the Loving Center which exists within each of us, and to turn their egos over to this Center of benevolent, creative power so they may lead joyous, harmonious, and creative lives. Dr. Hirschfield considers his life as a series of miracles. He was born in France and when aged eleven, came to the United States with his family at the beginning of World War II, crossing the U-boat infested Atlantic unharmed. He became a US citizen in 1946 and lived in New York City for ten years. Jerry did his undergarduate work at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he earned a BS degree in electronics engineering in 1950. Jerry became enamored of Southern California while on a summer vacation during his college years. He decided he would make his home there as soon as possible after graduation. Through another miracle, Jerry moved to California in 1952 and was employed in the aerospace industry for the next twenty years in engineering, management, and consulting positions. During that time, he obtained a Master of Engineering Management degree from the Engineering Executive Program at UCLA. As time passed, he became more interested in the human aspects of management and increasingly disenchanted with the military/industrial complex. During the recession in the early seventies, Dr. Hirschfield lost his job in the aerospace industry (another miracle) and went through a severe mid-life crisis

Notre Dame de Namur University, Belmont CA and Cañada College Expand Partnership to Include Programs in Art and Psychology

Notre Dame de Namur University

Belmont, CA (PRWEB) November 3, 2010

The agreement allows Cañada students to remain on the Cañada campus while they take all the courses they need to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and many of the courses they need to earn a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art. Their classes are taught by Notre Dame de Namur University faculty at Cañada’s University Center. The program is designed to help create a seamless transition for students transferring to NDNU from Cañada and reduces commute time for many students.

“We are excited to expand our relationship with Cañada College to include Psychology and Art,” said Lisa Bjerknes, interim dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. “Cañada students will have the opportunity to learn from a distinguished NDNU faculty in a familiar and congenial setting.”

“We are committed to widening access to individuals seeking to build upon their A.A. degree to complete a bachelor’s degree,” said Sarah Perkins, vice president of instruction at Cañada College. “The new Art and Psychology degrees build on a strong partnership with NDNU.”

These are the third and fourth cooperative programs launched by the two schools. NDNU already offers degrees in business administration and human services on the Cañada campus. Students enrolling in NDNU through the partnership benefit from maximized transferability of courses and facilitated admission and enrollment, which includes coordinated advising and financial aid.
